Using the contact details at the top of the page, please call and you will be given a time and date to come along for a free taster session. This can last for up to 50 minutes, and given the nature of the sport there may be delays, so please be prepared to wait for your row, and not be restricted by an hour parking ticket!
-
Depending on conditions, we may go out to sea, or stay in the harbour. Either way lifejackets will be provided. It is important to wear lots of layers in the boat, as it can get very cold on the water even if the sun is out. Footwear should be sturdy, no flip flops or thin soled shoes as these will not support your feet. Trainers, non-slip wellies are ideal, as you will need to push off with your feet whilst rowing.
-
You need to be aware that our gigs, oars and all club equipment should be treated with care and consideration, the boats and oars are hand crafted and are extremely expensive to build and maintain. Listen to club members for instructions both in and out of the gigs to help you enjoy your row, and preserve our gigs for future rowers.
-
After your free taster session, there is a temporary membership fee of £3.00 per row, until such time you feel ready to join the club. Annual membership is currently £50.00, to be reviewed in March 2007. Membership forms are available from the gig shed, (or to download from this page). Completed forms and your cheques should be returned to Su Lewis, our membership secretary, her address is on the form.
-
Junior rowers are welcome, aged from 10 to 16. There is no temporary membership fee, and the current annual membership for juniors is £15, to be reviewed in March 2007. New junior rowers do not leave the harbour, and lifejackets must be worn on the slipway and at all time in the gigs.
We look forward to meeting you
Helen
